Mirelo Audio-to-MIDI is a VST3 and AU plugin that converts audio to MIDI inside Ableton Live, FL Studio and other VST3 DAWs on macOS and Windows, and inside Logic Pro and GarageBand on macOS. Put it on an audio track, drop in a file or record the track, and it transcribes the full mix with Audio-to-MIDI Pro, giving you a separate MIDI file for every instrument it hears to drag straight into your project. It uses the same Mirelo account and credits as Mirelo Studio.
Until now, getting MIDI out of a track with Audio-to-MIDI meant bouncing the audio, uploading it to Mirelo Studio, downloading the MIDI and dragging it back into your session. If you have done that loop a few times in one evening, you know how quickly it pulls you out of the music. The plugin does the whole job from the track you are already working on.
The plugin brings transcription, the core of Audio-to-MIDI, into your DAW:
On macOS the installer adds both the AU and the VST3 version, and on Windows it adds the VST3. Use the AU version in Logic Pro and GarageBand, and the VST3 version in every other DAW.
The steps are the same in any VST3 or AU DAW. A MIDI file lands on a track with no instrument, so if a part plays back silent, that is the first thing to check.
Pull the parts out of a finished mix and keep working on them as MIDI in your session. Change a chord you never liked, move the bass line, or rebuild the arrangement around a part you want to keep.
Take an old recording, a rare one you have permission to use, or one of your own, and rebuild it with new instruments. Every note is editable, so the new version can stay close to the original or go somewhere else entirely.
Turn a loop into MIDI, then change the notes, rearrange the phrase or play it through a different sound. The original loop, the extracted MIDI and your flip can all sit next to each other in the same project.
If you generated a song with AI and only half of it works, turn it into MIDI for every instrument and rebuild it with your own sounds. Fix the parts that fall flat, keep the ones that do not, and make the track yours.
Record a melody, riff or bass line on a track and get it back as MIDI, so you can play the idea with any sound.

For a full walkthrough of Audio-to-MIDI in Studio, read How to convert audio to MIDI, and for the model behind both, read Introducing Audio-to-MIDI Pro.
The plugin is free to download. Transcription uses credits from your Mirelo account at 2.5 credits per second of audio, and the free plan's 5,000 credits a month cover about 33 minutes.
It works in Logic Pro and GarageBand through the Audio Units (AU) version on macOS. Pro Tools is not supported yet, since it needs AAX plugins.
Yes. You do not need to separate stems first: the plugin picks out the instruments playing at the same time and returns each one as its own MIDI file, plus one file with every part.
It picks out the instruments it hears in a full mix, such as piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals, and gives each one its own MIDI file. Before it transcribes, the plugin shows you the instruments it found, so you can keep them, pick your own or let the model decide.
It depends on the recording. Clear parts in a clean mix come out closer to the original than dense, heavily processed audio, which is why you can play every part against the original before you drag it in, and fix any note in your DAW's piano roll afterwards.
Yes. Transcription runs on Mirelo's servers, so the plugin uploads your audio and sends the MIDI back to your DAW.
Up to 30 minutes per transcription, which covers a full-length song in one go.
